چکیده
Transplanted mouse leukemia is being utilized as a test object for agents now being used in clini cal treatment and as a screen for compounds which might conceivably be employed in the therapy of human leukemia (†̃2, 6, 7). The objective of the present study was to test the influence of certain folic acid antagonists on the course and develop ment of transplanted leukemia which originated in the F strain (9). Aminopterin and amethopterin, agents tested in this investigation, have been re ported to exert significant therapeutic effects on acute leukemia of children and to delay the devel opment of certain transfer lines of mouse leukemia (†̃2—5, 10, 1'2, 15).

متن کاملRodent leukemia: Recent biological studies. A review.
Understanding of the factors influencing the spontaneous development and the transplantation of experimental neoplasms has been sought in studies of rat and mouse leukemia. Since leukemia is induced readily in various strains of mice by either carcinogenic hydrocarbons, ionizing radia tions, estrogens, or combinations of these agents (81, 66), the disease has been the subject of recent studies ...

that folic acid antagonists provide temporary palliation in certain cases of acute leukemia in children (7) and that several compounds of this class increase the survival time of mice with transplanted leukemia Ak 4 (4, 10, 11). However, eventual failure in the treatment of leukemia by chemotherapy with such compounds occurs consistently. The mechanism involved in the development of drug resist...
متن کاملThe role of microRNA in acute/chronic, myeloid/lymphocytic leukemia
MicroRNAs are small, non-coding sequences that regulate gene expression by inducing degradation or translational inhibition of target mRNAs. These molecules control many intracellular physiological and pathological processes.Abnormal expression of these moleculs has been described in different cancers including hematopoietic cancers. According to the type of cancer and the stage, miRNA’s expres...
متن کاملNMDA RECEPTOR ANTAGONISTS ATTENUATE TOLERANCE INDUCED BY MORPHINE AND NERVE LIGATION IN MICE
The effect of NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate) receptor antagonists on tolerance to morphine antinociception was investigated in mice. Daily subcutaneous administration of 50 mg/kg of morphine hydrochloride for three days induced tolerance to different (3,6 and 9 mg/kg) test doses of morphine. The tolerance obtained was decreased by pretreatment of animals with single or repeated doses of compe...
